Aspiring CPAs

Becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) can be a smart career move.  Why?

Becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is one of the most reliable ways to build a stable, flexible, and high‑earning career in the financial world. In Wyoming, accountants earn a median salary of $77,400, with the top 10% making $123,330 or more. According to O*Net, the field also has a bright job outlook, with 13% projected growth from 2022–2032; much faster than average.

Why the CPA Matters

Earning your CPA sets you apart as a trusted expert. Employers value CPAs for their technical skill, professionalism, and commitment to ethical standards. The credential opens doors to leadership roles, higher pay, and long‑term job security across nearly every industry.

Where CPAs Work

CPAs can build careers in a variety of fields, including:

  • Public Accounting: Auditing, tax, and consulting for individuals, businesses, and organizations.
  • Corporate Accounting: Roles such as financial analyst, controller, or even CFO.
  • Tax Accounting: Strategic tax planning and representing clients in audits.
  • Government & Nonprofit: Ensuring compliance, budgeting, and transparent use of funds.
  • Consulting: Advising organizations on financial performance, risk, and regulations.

Benefits of Becoming a CPA

  • Higher Earning Potential: CPAs typically earn more than non‑CPA accountants.
  • Strong Job Security: Consistent demand across all sectors.
  • Career Flexibility: Ability to move into specialized or leadership roles.
